It’s about vision

Photographer David duChemin says “Gear is good, vision is better.”  He’s right.  It all comes down to vision.

Your vision.  How do you see the world?  What lenses color your vision?  Do you have a heart for the hurting in the world around you? Is there beauty in nature? What do you want to share with others?  Is what you envision true?  We each have a unique perspective on the world that has been shaped by the choices we have made and our values.  And how we have experienced the world influences we frame things. Our vision chooses what we choose to reveal and how it is communicated.

My vision.   I see a wonderful tapestry of humanity around me.  The world, though flawed, is beautiful.  The vision of one person reaching out to comfort another in middle of tragedy.  The playful look of joy on face of bride beaming at her new groom.  The twinkle in the grandfather’s eye dances with grand-daughter. A smiling stranger accepting help from a brother of our wider family.  That’s my vision.

Photographers need vision. Without vision, people perish.
